Concern Worldwide works in 28 of the poorest countries in the world. Deeply committed to working with the most disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, many of our programmes have a significant focus on
women and girls. In order to highlight the issues faced by women in the communities where Concern works, we ask you to join us in the new Women of Concern group. The facts are clear:

• More than 80% of the world’s estimated 40 million refugees are women and children
• Over two thirds of the world’s 876 million people who are illiterate are women
• 70% of the more than one billion people who live in absolute poverty - on less than a dollar a day - are women
• Women work two thirds of the world’s working hours yet earn only 10% of the world’s income
• Rural women own less than 1% of the world’s property yet produce 50% of the world’s food
